Is mercury harmful?

It is known that certain amount of mercury is present in lightening creams that are applied to the face. Is mercury harmful when the cream is used frequently?

When used for short time it might not have much severe side effects,but sometimes allergy reaction to mercury may occur. When repeated used for long term it may cause discoloration of skin ( pink skin disease), loss of hair, multiple rashes, excessive sweating and increase sensitive to light. More severe cause may be systemic toxicity like kidney, liver and brain damage. So its better to avoid products containing Mercury.

i think in the us all products are supposed to be mercury free. they even took the old glass thermometers away from us. so i would say it is pretty nasty stuff if it gets into your blood stream.

As far as I know, almost all the cream contain mercury, such as cream for face, cream for the skin, and also cream for cleanser, all contain mercury. And excessive use of mercury can cause disorders of the skin, including skin cancer. So, please be careful to use your make up.
