Default Acne Treatment with Aspirin Mask - Is it good?

One of the common off the records treatments prescribed for acne is the Aspirin Mask. Non coated Aspirin pills are crushed and made into a paste by adding water. This mixture is applied on the face for about 30 minutes before being washed away. The logic is.. Aspiring breaks down into salicylic acid which helps to treat acne.

However, I found an interesting argument opposing the above method. It is as follows

"Aspirin is a pharmacological drug containig acetyl salicylic acid.
Salicylic acid is a keratolytic agent. that means it peels the superficial layer of ones skin exposing the new skin layer underneath.
this salicylate can also be absorbed through very thin skin and also after prolonged or excessive use. this may lead to a state of poisoning termed as salicylism."

Does anyone have information about this? Is it safe to use aspirin for acne or is it dangerous?

Asprin is the wonder drug used in treatment of inflammation, pain, fever and many other problems like mesntrual cramps headache and even life saving drug in Myocardial infarction...

In the trreatment of acne most frequently used firstline drug are that containing salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide.Aspirin is also in this group of salicylates. It works by reducing substances in the body that cause pain, and inflammation.

There are many controversy about using asprin as a mask but for a normal healthy individual its safe. But anyone who's allergic or sensitive to aspirin, pregnant or breast-feeding women, individual with pre-existing medical condition, like bleeding problems asthma, probably should avoid using this or any other salicylic acid product. Otherwise its safe and effective.

    Hey Thanks!

One morething.. Is it to be used like a mask all over the face or as a spot treatment? Does it have a drying effect if used all over the face? In that case I dont think it would be suitable for people with dry skin.

Secondly, can it be used daily until the acne clears off? Or is there a particulat frequency to it? Like once or twice in a week?
