Default Chemicals in skin whitening products

    Hi,
Maybe some of us use skin whitening product. As we know, skin whitening products contain ingredients act as lightening, and others as additives such as fragrance, preservatives, stabilizers... They are all chemicals
The chemical names in their ingredients seem to be strange for us. It is wisely to read the ingredients and understanding their function and, if any, their adverse effect closely.

Most skin whitening products contains Hydroquinone. Principally, Hydroquinone acts as a reducing agent. In a topical application it reduces the color of skin. Some reports say that Hydroquinone is also carcinogenic. This use is banned in some countries, including the member states of the European Union.

All the products contain chemicals and there is not a lot you can do about it.

When you take a shower you have more chance to contaminate your skin with chemical residues because the water is not treated correctly by the water treatment plant in whatever country.

Testing Finds Hundreds of Contaminants in America’s Drinking Water
The Environmental Working Group's analysis of nearly 20 million drinking water tests conducted by water suppliers nationwide between 2004 and 2009 revealed hundreds of pollutants in U.S. tap water. For most, the government has set no safety-based legal limits. Many other contaminants were found in drinking water at concentrations above government-issued advisory health guidelines.

EWG obtained this test data from state water authorities over the past three years, compiling it into the largest database of tap water quality in existence. EWG’s analysis shows wide variations in water quality. Generally, large water utilities test more often and supply water with lower levels of common pollutants than smaller utilities. But even some large utilities’ water is contaminated with multiple pollutants at levels that exceed government health guidelines.

    EWG Rated the Water Utilities
EWG rated big city (population over 250,000) water utilities based on three factors: the total number of chemicals detected since 2004; the percentage of chemicals found of those tested; and the highest average level for an individual pollutant, relative to legal limits or national average amounts for the most common pollutants (disinfection byproducts, nitrate and arsenic). Jean-Luc i agree all household water should be going thru a good filter of one kind or another. they aren't that expensive and they are sold everywhere. there are natural skin lighteners such as papaya masks, yogurt masks, etc. i would never use hydroquinone. this can cause damage deep in the layers of the skin. there are natural skin lighteners. who wants to do a search and list them here?

i also heard that hydroquinone is harmful to the skin. good thing ,my skin lightening cream now (********) does not have hq content. i read other forums and blogs that reveal hq's other side besides an effective skin treatment.

hydroquinine is not good for skin. it has rebound effects as in if you stop using it the skin can turn dark again or darker than before. some people it helps but i would try to stay away from it.
