Pearly penile papules are small tiny dome-shaped or thread-like skin-colored bumps that are located on the sulcus or corana of the glans penis. These papules are arranged in one or several rows around the base of the head of the penis. Though, they can occur in every men, they are more common in men with uncircumcised penis. They commonly occur in men in their early twenties or thirties, thought can occur as young as 13-14 years. Sometimes, these lesions may extend to glans penis. They are usually asymptomatic and may persist throughout the life. They may be less visible with the increase of age.
Pearly Penile Papules causes:
Pearly penile papules are normal anatomic variant. They are not due to lack of hygiene or sexual activity. They are harmless and possess no risk of any disease. They are not infectious or contagious. Few research have associated pearly penile papules in men with female sexual partner having cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (human papilloma virus). But no data supports the role of human papilloma virus in pearly penile papules.
How is the lesion Diagnosed ?
These lesions can be diagnosed just by their clinical appearance and usually no specific tests are required. But if there is some confusion, your doctor may perform a biopsy of the lesion for histopathologic findings and confirm the case.

Pearly Penile Papules treatment:
These lesion are harmless and requires no treatment. But many of the people might find it discomfort or experience embarrassment due to the lesion. In that case laser therapy, electrodesiccation with curettage or excisional surgery may be done. Previously topical podophyllin were also used but with no success. So the definitive and promising results may be obtained from CO2 laser ablation.
So if you are feeling shy to talk about this condition, there is nothing to be ashamed of. These are just normal anatomic variant and are harmless. No treatment is required. So, don’t be stressed , just enjoy your sexual freedom.
MY QUESTION IS DO THEY SHOW UP CASUE OF THE LACK OF AIR TO THE PENIS
Ive had them since I was 15 I’m now 46 I’ve never showed a partner them or said I have it I’ve always been embarrassed about it and it affects me badly I won’t even have sex in a lit up room because if a partner seen it I wouldn’t no how to explain its caused embarrassment for 31 years can my Dr get these removed I’m even embarrassed to go to them about it
