Light redness with small bumps on chest

Hello All,

So a quick back ground, I'm a white, 27 year old(turning 28 this month) male, in good health. I don't get sick easily. Now the reason im on here, I have a light redness with small bumps all over my chest. I've had it since high school, and it has very slowly spread(starting on the left side and working its way to right). I have been to a dermatologist about it, he took pictures, did 2 biopsy's, and even had me come to a dermatologist gathering of his colleagues to get their opinion on it. None of them were sure what it was. What we do know is it doesn't itch, its not scaly, and doesn't flake. I have attached two pictures of it. Any help or suggestions would be great everyone! I appreciate it!

Welcome to forum seth, sorry to know about your condition.So what did the dermatologist say after biopsy, biopsy will sure help identify the characteristics of the lesion. Any treatment history? Do you have such bumps on face or any other parts of body? if possible can u upload another close clear picture.

Its not on any other part of my body, just on my upper chest there. I can see if I can get any more clear pictures tomorrow. The dermatologist didn't tell me much, except that it wasn't cancer, and that he was unsure what it could be. He didnt give me any details about the biopsy itself. That it didn't seem to be causing any discomfort and such so he didn't see anything to be worried about. But I'd personally like to figure out what it is, see if I can get it cleared up.

I took these with my phone because it seemed to focus better up close then my good camera did 0.o lol, I hope these are better for you. The third pic( i believe its teh 3rd pic) you'll see one spot where theres a white bump larger then the rest...that is where the biopsy was done...so I guess that is just the scar tissue from it healing up. Thought i would just let everyone know.

Thank you for the pics, although biopsy is required to confirm the case, don't know what ur derm came into conclusion. In my view it looks like Lichen Myxedematosus or papular mucinosis, usually biopsy (histopathology) would confirm. Although causes is unknown, it might be due to some fibroblast disorder, that might have cause the increased deposition of mucin in the skin. Its thought to be associated with Monoclonal gammopathy (precancerous condition).

I would suggest you to get second opinion from another dermatologist and repeat the biopsy, and also carry out some tests like serum and urine protein electrophoresis for paraproteins, thyroid function tests and test for auto-antibodies, also detail systemic examination from internal medicine specialist.

Treatment is often unsatisfactory but steroids and oral retinoids might help in some cases.

This is just my online view, direct visual examination and biopsy report would help exclude many possible condition like disseminated infundibulofolliculitis, Pseudoxanthoma elasticum, and many other and come into one conclusion.

Alright, thank you for the suggestions. I will see about setting up another appointment with a different dermatologist and see what they can determine. I'll also ask if they might be able to give me a copy of the biopsy results. I appreciate the ideas on what it might be, it will give me something to share with them at the appointments, and perhaps help figure it out.

I will update when/if I manage to find anything else out.

sorry it took me so long for an update, I have not had a chance to go in for another appointment/follow up yet, but I did get copies of the original 2 biopsy's that they did. I dont know if this will help with anything, but if it does, I appreciate any insight!
