Smoking causes facial wrinkles and premature aging making your face look older. The nicotine in the cigarette narrows the tiny blood vessels in the outermost layer of skin; as a result it decreases blood flow. This means blood can’t carry enough oxygen and nutrients that are important to skin health.

Smoking also damages collagen and elastin which are fibers that give your skin its strength and elasticity resulting in premature sagging and wrinkle. In addition, the repetitive facial expressions you make when smoking — such as pursing your lips when inhaling and squinting your eyes to keep out smoke — can contribute to wrinkles.
